With this years Four Wheeler of the year contenders warmed up from testing on the Cerro Gordo trail on day two, it was time to see what each vehicle could really do. We started out with an early morning journey to the sand dunes to see how well each SUV and Pickup Truck could carve the dunes and handle the soft sand. After each judge had plenty of seat time blasting around the dunes and seeing how each one preformed, it was time to see how the challengers handled the rough, tight, wet and rocky terrain of the Silver Canyon Trail.
After a quick fuel stop and driver swap we made our way up and through the Silver Canyon Trail testing out the 4-wheel drive systems in each rig. Thanks to plenty of sharp rocky terrain our trail ride wasn’t without incident, several tires were punctured as we made our way through the steep, rocky terrain. Thankfully our fearless leader brought a patch kit, and full-size spare tires are standard on most of these vehicles making getting of the trail possible.
Stay tuned for more coverage from the 2016 Four Wheeler of the year right here on fourwheeler.com as we keep challenging each vehicle to see which new SUV and which new Pickup Truck comes out on top of our competition!
