This week, the California state assembly passed a measure that would make operating a motor vehicle with a dog---or any other critter----sitting in your lap a crime punishable by a $35 fine. What do you think? Should a mutt in your lap be a crime against the state?

* Absolutely. Anything that distracts the driver is a menace on the road.

* Only if your passengers have pet allergies.

* Nonsense. Let those who drive decide.

* Dude, that's no way to talk about my girlfriend!
