Silverado Overland Camper: Meet the Participants of the 2020 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure
Jack Peeler’s 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.
Overlanders: Leslie (Jack) D. Peeler and Darcie R. Peeler
Vehicle: 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
About: "My wife and I have been overlanding for more than 25 years in various vehicles and have always preferred to take the lonely dirt road or find that old ghost town or see what secrets that mountain range might hold. Overlanding centers us and has become our life. We sold our house and most of our possessions and live out of our truck/camper full time." The duo found the beef for this lifestyle in the form of a 2007 F-350 Dana 60 straight-axle conversion with an Eaton ELocker up front, King coilover shocks, 4.56 gearing, a Buckstop front bumper with a Warn 12,000-pound winch, homebuilt rock sliders, and 35-inch 285/75/R18 Cooper AT3 XLT tires. Other interesting additions include an Alum-Line aluminum flatbed, a 52-gallon fuel tank, a York OBA engine-driven compressor, a Waeco/Dometic fridge, and a portable Ready Welder unit. For the sleeping part of the journey, they added an '18 BunduTec cabover camper, with solar panels, a 200-amp lithium battery, a Wrappon Green toilet, an internal/external shower, and more.
The 2020 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure takes place November 16-20, 2020, and will begin in Wickenburg, Arizona, then conclude in Mayer, Arizona. The event will include highway and backcountry driving by day led by a professional off-road guide, followed by camping at night. The expedition will feature 20 overlanding-equipped rigs, handpicked from dozens of applicants.
