M715 Overland Build: Meet the Participants of the 2020 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure
Joseph Schigel’s 1967 Jeep M715.
Overlanders: Joseph Schigel and Tim Schigel
Vehicle: 1967 Jeep M715
About: "I overland because I love to get away from it all and get out into the great outdoors. Ever since I was little, I've loved exploring. I would always be blazing new trails in the woods and trying to find the end of the creek on the property. Today, I like to explore Michigan and the Midwest with my friends and family. I love the ability to get out and camp in places most people wouldn't think possible." Joseph specifically built this M715 to be able to go anywhere, which meant having items such as an 8.0L V-10 from a Dodge, NV4500 trans, NP205 T-case, Detroit rear locker, modified leaf spring suspension, custom driveshafts, Grand Wagoneer power brakes and steering, and 37-inch tires with Humvee wheels. Armored differential covers, AGM battery, storage, jerry cans for fuel and water, and bed-mounted pop-up Tepui tent are among the other additions.
The 2020 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure takes place November 16-20, 2020, and will begin in Wickenburg, Arizona, then conclude in Mayer, Arizona. The event will include highway and backcountry driving by day led by a professional off-road guide, and camping at night. The expedition will feature 20 overlanding-equipped rigs, handpicked from dozens of applicants.
