RockJock 4x4 vs Currie Enterprises: What’s the Difference?

The story behind one of the most influential companies in the Jeep world.

Currie Enterprises has long been a mainstay in the world of hot rods and off-road 4x4s, specifically Jeeps. The Currie Enterprises website used to house all sorts of gear, ranging from complete axle assemblies and components to suspension systems, bumpers, or full Jeep builds of varying levels. But recently the company has undergone a split, resulting in a bunch of confusion. So what's the deal with RockJock 4x4 vs. Currie Enterprises? To answer that correctly, you first need to know who John Currie is.

Ever heard of a Johnny Joint rod end? Yeah, one of the most copied and innovative suspension joint designs ever. How about the Antirock torsion sway bar? Or the Currectlync steering linkage, flat-tow front shackles, the no-longer-offered-but-very-innovative TJ J-arm suspension, and on and on and on? Those were all the brainchild of John Currie. As a real-world 'wheeler himself, John has always been something of a genius at finding simple, effective solutions to real-world off-road needs. John was the mad scientist who toiled away in a lab with a roll-up door within the old Currie Enterprises building in Anaheim to create things that solved those problems and other shortcomings he discovered behind the wheel out on the trail. And now that he's off heading RockJock 4x4, he's unencumbered to let his creativity run wild.

So that brings us back to the difference between Currie Enterprises and RockJock 4x4. Currie Enterprises will continue as an axle building business, specializing in full assemblies, builder components, and replacement parts. RockJock 4x4 is now a completely separate company that will offer all those exceptionally good John Currie-developed products for Jeep suspension, steering, towing, undercarriage, and more. We'll be watching the RockJock 4x4 website for new products as they're added. Here's just a few cool products that are either available now or that are coming soon.

RockJock 4x4 Forged Antirock Sway Bar Arms

All RockJock 4x4 Antirock steel control arm kits were upgraded forged arms at no additional cost to the consumer. RockJock's new Forged 4340 Chromoly Arms for the renowned Antirock Sway Bar set a new industry standard! Available in the four most popular sizes, the updated pocketed design enhances appearance, reduces weight, and the I-beam cross section provides increased stiffness for extreme off road use. Arms are powder coated for durability.

RockJock 4x4 RockNut

RockNut are threaded for regular rod end shank sizes.
The RockNut control arm end features a taper that indexes the taper of the RockNut.
As the RockNut is tightened over the tapered control arm end, the taper clamps the slotted end down onto the rod end threads.

RockJock's patent pending tapered control arm lock-nut is superior to jam-nuts. The RockNuts employ a slotted, tapered control arm end that is clamped tight on the threads of the rod-end threads by the taper of the RockNut as it is tightened. Unlike regular jam nuts, RockNuts remain tight, even if the rod end rotates past its travel limits. The RockNut gives the clamping force of a pinch bolt with the ease of use of a jam-nut.

Jeep Wrangler JL & JK Long Arm Kit

RockJock 4x4 will soon be introducing its long-arm suspension for Jeep JL and JK Wranglers. RockJock's long-arm suspension is designed to retain factory anti-squat characteristics and maintain traction, all in a smooth articulating suspension system. The heavy-duty system features Johnny Joint rod ends, RockJock 4x4's patented RockNuts, weld-on frame brackets, and a complete set of front and rear control arms with an option of aluminum or steel. There will be an optional rear lower axle-bracket for stock axles to gain ground clearance.

JT Gladiator rear Antirock Sway Bar

Designed for rock-crawlers, recreational four-wheelers, and overlanders alike, the RockJock Antirock rear sway bar kit for 2019 and Up Jeep JT Gladiators, when used in conjunction with a front Antirock sway bar kit, provides balanced performance of front and rear suspension for rugged off-road conditions. It gives the driver increased traction by balancing and distributing the weight and traction over all four tires.

The Antirock off-road sway bar is designed to directly replace the stock Jeep sway bar and is completely bolt-on. The kit has all components for installation, including the sway bar, vertically offset steel sway bar arms that allow for the highest clearance of any Antirock arm allowing maximum suspension uptravel in applications that feature clearance restrictions (truck bed), semi-gloss black powder coated bolt-on steel frame and axle brackets, UHMW frame bushings, adjustable length heim jointed sway bar links, necessary hardware, and step-by-step instructions.
