Behind the Scenes of the Awesome Toyo Tires Ferret Video
Get an in-depth look at how this project came together
A couple of weeks ago, Toyo Tires released its Ferret video, where professional off-road–racer BJ Baldwin took an LS-powered Ferret Scout for the ultimate desert joy ride. Today, the company released a behind-the-scenes video showing what went into building and shooting the badass Ferret video.
In this footage, the crew travels to Bangor, Maine to pick up the retired Ferret Scout from an airport hangar and brings it back to Los Angeles to turn it into one awesome off-road machine. With a successful recon trip and transportation to the team at Action Vehicle Engineering, the surgery could begin. With a plan to turn this Ferret into a desert eating beast, an LS V-8 was stuffed between the frame rails, King Off-Road Racing Shocks coilovers were added to all four corners, a killer grappling hook winch, and six 39-inch Toyo M/T tires that are built for the gnarliest terrain.
After the transformation was complete, the fun in the dirt could get started, and with three days to shoot, three cameras, two drones, and one talented driver, the action was sweet and all caught on film. With plenty of horsepower, the rough terrain was no match for the transformed Ferret tackling everything in its path.
