Nissan Goes to the Beach with the Titan Surfcamp

Titan XD–Based Truck Built for Fishing and Boarding

Nissan is no stranger to the world of special vehicles, with the Titan Project Basecamp, Armada Mountain Patrol, and more among its who’s who of utility machines. The latest machine, called the Titan Surfcamp, moves that outdoorsy ethos away from the mountains and toward the coasts.

Based on a Titan XD with the Cummins 5.0L V-8, the Surfcamp was built in anticipation of the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST). The donor Titan XD is a well-equipped Midnight Edition, but it also comes with a long list of added features perfect for a day at the beach. A Rhino Rack Batwing awning provides plenty of shade from the sun, and custom surf fishing rod mounts help catch dinner. The Titan Surfcamp also has a DECKED bed storage system down below and a Leitner Design cargo rack above, the latter carrying a Freespirit Recreation rooftop tent. The Titan XD also gets off-road lighting from KC, Rigid, and Baja Designs. When it’s time to go home, a Road Shower solar shower and teak decking help rinse away sand.

The Titan Surfcamp is also decked out with custom graphics and a color scheme inspired by a surf-themed Hot Wheels 1971 Datsun Bluebird toy. The retro blue, white, and orange colors look tailor-made for a day in the waves, bolstered by the matching stand-up paddleboard and surfboard. Meanwhile, WeatherTech rubber floor mats and Wetskinz seat covers made from water-resistant material protect the interior from salt and sand.

Predictably, Nissan has no plans to build a series-production Surfcamp model, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance to sample its beach-friendly features. After its debut at ICAST in Orlando, Florida, the Titan Surfcamp will make its way to the Pacific, stopping at the Supergirl Surf Pro in Oceanside, California July 27-29.
