SEMA 2019: Stalking Setup Day And The Show Floor Is A Hotbed Of Activity #MTSEMA19

Just a few hours before the SEMA Show opens the show floor

We figure you know what the Specialty Equipment Market Association show is, but in case you don't, here's a brief overview: The four-day show, known simply as SEMA to most, is a massive annual event that takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's an automotive event that showcases aftermarket parts and accessories, and it's not open to the general public—only to those in the industry.

We're like boomerangs, and each year we show up early to SEMA to stalk the goings-on to get an advance look at what's in store. During the set-up days things appear chaotic as machinery zips around the Las Vegas Convention Center, rolled up carpet is carefully laid flat, special lighting is hung, booths are constructed, and 4x4s are placed in position. It's not chaotic though—everyone has a job and things get done in an impressively short amount of time considering the size of the show.

One of the show's big draws are the scores of modified 4x4 trucks and SUVs. As we ambled around during the set-up days for the 2019 SEMA Show, we took lots of photos so you can have an advance look at how the show comes together and some of the 4x4s you'll be seeing in our coverage throughout the week. In some cases, there are ladders, boxes, and other stuff scattered about in the photos, but this is just what it looks like during show setup.
