BFGoodrich Tires Reaches Huge 150-Year Anniversary Milestone

The best-known name in tires turns a century and a half old.

Sean Holman’s new AEV-built JL Wrangler rolls on BFG A-Ts.

It's the best-known tire brand in the USA, and chances are if you're reading this you've owned at least one car, trailer, pickup, or SUV with a set of BFGoodrich tires. For us here in the truck, SUV, and off-road market space, that's especially true given the company's huge presence in off-road motorsports and countless different offerings of light truck and off-road tires that are highly respected in their respective categories. We've used BFG tires on dozens of mild to wild project vehicle builds in magazines, print, and original programming, and the same holds true for our sister titles on the car side of MotorTrend Group's brands. And now, as if being an industry leader over the course of recent memory wasn't enough, BFG has reached a huge milestone, celebrating its 150th anniversary.

So while we think of BFG as the brand that offers high-quality tires for your off-road rockcrawler, hardcore Jeep, muscle car, or daily driver, the company has been leading with its accomplishments for over a century. BFGoodrich tires were on the first automobile to drive coast to coast across the USA, they were the tires Charles Lindbergh equipped the Spirt of St. Louis with on his historic flight across the Atlantic, and they were the tires the Space Shuttle landed on when it returned to Earth. And, if that weren't enough, they were the tires B.A. Baracus smoked on the A-Team van to escape from Colonel Decker, what the Duke Boys used to keep the General Lee out in front of Rosco and Enos, and they were the tires that allowed Jeff Goldblum's Jeep to outrun a charging T-rex in Jurassic Park. So congratulations to BFGoodrich for such a storied achievement, and best wishes for many happy returns.
