Chevrolet Adds 6.2L V-8 to More Silverado Models for 2020

Chevrolet is adding a V-8 engine option to its 2020 Silverado models. Chevrolet will add an optional 6.2L V-8 to the Trail Boss and RST trim levels, joining the LTZ and High Country, both of which have offered the bigger eight since the truck was redesigned for 2020. The V-8 engine will produce 420 hp with 460 lb-ft of torque, mated to Chevrolet's 10-speed automatic transmission.

"The Trail Boss models are already some of the most popular in the Silverado franchise. Adding the available 6.2L V-8 will ratchet that excitement up even further," said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing.

The V-8 option will also be available on the RST four-wheel-drive models. The 6.2L V-8 is expected to increase the towing capacity of the Silverado to 13,400 pounds.

If you still don't have enough power for your Silverado, Chevrolet has a performance upgrade available that includes an air-intake and cat-back exhaust system. Output is expected to be 435 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing on the Custom Trail Boss will start at $43,865 with the new V-8 engine. Pricing was not released on the other trim levels. In addition to the engine upgrade, Chevrolet is expanding trailering technology with 15 camera views. An added adaptive cruise control camera is also new for 2020, featuring a single high-mounted camera on the rearview mirror that scans the roadway. The system can bring the truck to a complete stop in an emergency.
