See Why This 1976 Ford Bronco Sold for Nearly $200,000 at Barrett-Jackson

An early Bronco with a Roadster Shop RS4 chassis, supercharged Coyote engine, and insane interior!

The Barrett-Jackson July 2020 online auction is still happening, and the hot vehicles are selling quickly. Take, for example, this superb 1976 Ford Bronco sold as Lot 148. Sometimes at these vehicle auctions you see a feeding frenzy at the auction block in which a classic vehicle in dubious mechanical condition is made to look presentable with a quick respray and some new wheels and tires and takes in an absurd amount far exceeding its true value. But with this '76 Bronco it seems the buyer is getting value for every cent of the $195,250 price.

For starters, it's built atop a Roadster Shop RS4 chassis, which, without any options by itself, starts at $36,495. Add in the superb Fox suspension, fabricated Ford 9-inch rear, disc brakes, and independent front suspension, and you're looking at an astronomical price tag with the go-fast off-road performance to back it up. Powering that killer suspension is a supercharged Ford Coyote crate engine. The Coyote stepping-off point is 460 hp and 420 lb-ft, with incredible power levels beyond that just a mere supercharger pulley and tuning flash away. Backing the Coyote engine is a 6R80 six-speed auto transmission with a twin-stick Atlas T-case. The 4.86 gears will turn the 35-inch tires with no problem at all, and the 12 inches of front and 13 inches of rear wheel travel will ensure a pillowy ride across the desert no matter what.

Switching gears to the interior, you'll find an absurdly well-appointed leather upholstery job that covers the inside of the removable roof, door panels, cargo area, and front and rear seats. A custom center console, air conditioning, Dakota Digital gauge, and sound system with six speakers delivers modern amenities with a classic feel. It's all wrapped around a gorgeous dark green paint job augmented by flush-mounted glass, Rigid lighting, and a Warn winch in the front bumper. What an absolutely beautiful early Bronco built that has the performance to match its aesthetics.
