Here It Is: Four Wheeler Magazine’s July 2020 Cover Includes a Trick Dodge Dakota and Rock-Ready Norwegian Jeep CJ-7!
With a trail-taming Dakota front-and-center, Four Wheeler magazine’s July 2020 cover is an attention-grabber.
It's not often you see a Dodge Dakota on the trail, especially a Dakota that has been built by its owner to be bulletproof and mega functional. Tom Major's 2002 Dodge Dakota stopped us in our tracks when we spotted it on the trail, and after a quick chat with Tom it became clear that his Dakota was worth a more detailed look.
More Than a Pretty Face
Soon we had our cameras pointed at the truck, documenting all its features including the custom frame from the cab forward and the cab rearward, custom rollcage, a pair of 1-ton axles with 5.38s, custom coilover suspension at each corner, and a set of 40-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs. You can read the story of Tom's Dakota here.
A Dakota on the Cover of Four Wheeler Magazine Is Rare
Another thing you don't often see is a Dodge Dakota on the cover of Four Wheeler magazine. Again, it's because we don't often see built Dodge Dakotas. So for that reason the cover of the July 2020 issue of Four Wheeler magazine is uncommon and rather epic.
Anatomy of the Photo
Four Wheeler magazine staff editor Jered Korfhage nailed the cover shot of Tom's Dakota with the passenger-side front suspension drooped nicely, which offers a full view of what's going on under the front of the truck.
But That's Not All
The Four Wheeler magazine July 2020 cover also includes a photo of John Marshall's incredible owner-built, overland-prepped, 2005 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U500 and a photo of Roy Hovden's 1986 Jeep CJ-7. The latter was one of six Jeeps that were transported from Norway and taken on an incredible U.S. trail tour.
