Rare 1962 Meyers Manx Dune Buggy to be Auctioned

Russo and Steele Automobile Auctions is auctioning an ultra-rare 1962 Meyers Manx Dune Buggy in January. The vehicle is one of the first produced by Bruce Meyers that fueled the dune buggy craze in the 1960s.

"This is the 'holy grail' in both stunning original condition, including the factory gel coat, in the most desirable color offered; metal flake purple," said Drew Alcazar, President and CEO of Russo and Steele. "Many are aware that I am a longtime fan and dune buggy collector myself, so this offering is personally very exciting. As Manx aficionados are well aware, this represents an unprecedented, once in a lifetime opportunity".

The rare classic 1962 Meyers Manx is in original condition and has full portfolio documentation. The vehicle is painted in the its original metal flake purple gel coat and was designed by Bruce Meyers himself. The dune buggy comes with a VW Type 3 "pancake" engine and five-lug chrome 15-inch appliance wheels with Crager SS Knock-offs. The vehicle also features air shock rear suspension and a sway bar control.

The auction will take place January 15-20, 2020 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
