36,000-Pound Crown!

If you haven't paid attention to the towing capability wars, we'll give you a recap. Chevrolet has dethroned the Ford F-350 Super Duty and its 35,750-pound towing capacity. Here's how you can put the power to pull 18 tons in your driveway: order a two-wheel-drive, regular-cab, dual-rear-wheel Silverado 3500HD equipped with the Duramax diesel engine and Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. It will also need to be a Work Truck trim and equipped with the NHT max trailering package. What kind of dark magic did the engineers wield to pull off this feat? The recipe included swapping aluminum wheels where steel ones once lived, retuning the front shocks, tweaking the spring rate on the front torsion bar, and a few other tidbits.

Trucked Up?

Honda's midsize truck with a unibody construction and independent suspension at each corner is getting just a bit more than a sharp new haircut. That's right, the '21 Honda Ridgeline gets a midcycle refresh with lots of new sheetmetal in front of the A-pillar, new grille options, a new front bumper, and more. Skidplating adds brawn in the front, while dual exhaust tips add character to the rear. Check the box next to HPD for the Honda Performance Division package that includes a unique grille, black fender flares, and bronze color wheels for all trim levels. Just don't look for anything new under the hood, where you'll still find the V-6 backed by the nine-speed auto.

Pikes Peak in a Plant-Based Diesel

156 turns. 12.46 miles. 14,115 feet in the sky. All in a '49 Ford F1 pickup with a 6.7L Cummins under its hood and absolutely no traction aids. Scott Birdsall now has the record for the fastest-ever diesel vehicle to climb Pikes Peak with a time of 11:24.065, besting the previous contender (in a Mercedes-Benz C 300D 4Matic) by just over 13 seconds. What makes the feat cooler? The truck runs on plant-based Nexgen diesel.

NISMO Parts

You might know the Nismo (NISsan MOtorsports) Performance brand from its association with high-performance street vehicles (think GT-R Nismo, 370Z Nismo), but did you know the brand has parts coming for your Nissan Frontier, Titan, and Xterra? Expect a suspension kit with Bilstein remote-reservoir shocks, a powdercoated bumper, Rigid LED auxiliary lights, 17-inch off-road wheels, and more. Did we mention these parts will be put to the test on a Nismo'ed Frontier in the 2020 Rebelle Rally? And that Sedona Blinson and Lyn Woodward will be driving?

BOOM! Goes the Dyno-mite

Attendees at an Edge Products event in Ogden, Utah, witnessed one of the gnarliest dyno catastrophes in recent history. In its quest to reach a mind-boggling 3,000 hp on the dyno, the truck affectionately known as Master Shredder succumbed to too much NOS (and to Satan) and literally flung its Cummins diesel engine out as a fiery meteor. No human injuries were reported, but the engine has shuffled off its mortal coil.

Is It True?

Is Nissan discontinuing its Titan-derived NV cargo van and the NV2000 in North American markets?

Will the Toyota Land Cruiser make its exit from United States markets in 2021?

Whatzit Cost to Moparize Your Ram TRX?
