Ultimate Adventure 2017 Invited Reader: Nicholas LeBlanc – #UA2017
The last (and certainly not least) guy who’ll be joining us at Ultimate Adventure 2017 is Nick LeBlanc, of Jacksonville, Florida. Nick will be bringing his built 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ to hang out with us on the trail, and we can’t wait to see his rig out on the trail.
Sporting a stock 4.0L I-6 and AX15 transmission, the drivetrain is otherwise completely altered. An NWF Titan compound low-range gearbox pairs with a Ford NP205 twin-stick transfer case, and the whole kit sends power to the Ford HP60 front and GM 14-bolt rear axles via heavy-duty 1350 driveshafts. Each end of the stretched 114-inch wheelbase also sees significant upgrades in the way of stronger hubs, axle shafts, trusses, and the like. Suspending the Cherokee over the wheels is a homemade lift kit, comprised of a three-link/Panhard bar combo up front and a double-triangulated four-link in back. Nitto Trail Grapplers, sized 40x13.5x17, provide ample traction.
Nick wheels with lots of local clubs, and he’s been involved in the sport for about a decade. With plenty of experience at the quarries in Florida and the thick forest trails that crisscross Tennessee and Kentucky, Nick should be able to handle what we throw at him at UA2017. And Nick says his Jeep is as comfortable on the road as it is capable off of it, so we don’t pity his cross-country commute to UA too much.
