Meet the Dirty Dozen Reader Finalists of Ultimate Adventure 2020! #UA2020

Which of these lucky 12 will get an invite to UA2020!

Every year, we accept applications for a small pool of very lucky 4-Wheel & Off-Road fans to be a part of the world's most recognized hardcore off-road event. We get the question, "How do I apply for UA" all the time, so we guess it's not as clear as we figure it to be. Here's the easy button. Just visit fourwheeler.com/ultimate-adventure, and click the "Ultimate Adventure Registration is Live!" button. That will take you to the story that houses the application PDF. Simply fill that out, add a couple good high-res images of your vehicle, and email it in to us.

The other question we get asked most frequently is, "What's the formula to get in?" Well, the real answer is that there is no tried-and-true formula for becoming a part of Ultimate Adventure. For starters, every year I select a slightly different group of UA insiders to serve on the selection committee.

That way, we're not narrowing our field down to the same sort of things that appeal to one person year-over-year. Yes, Verne Simons and I are always on the selection committee, but we honestly like everything and are two of the most vehicularly broad-minded people you'd want to meet. Once the selection committee is formed, the applications are distributed and each evaluator picks their top 12-15 favorites. Then, I pool the common vehicles into the final 12 and make a judgment call to fill out any holes in the list.

So what makes the list? Again, that really depends on the factors from that given year. Each year, we build something different, and every year the sponsors usually bring something different and. Taking those two factors into consideration, coupled with where the event is going, the type of terrain we'll be tackling, and all sorts of other factors down to minutia as detailed as vehicle color, we'll do our best to create the most diverse field possible. But no matter what we select for the final Dirty Dozen, the 4x4s must be well-built, capable, and interesting. Once we've got the field narrowed, I'll make a personal call to each of the Dirty Dozen and have a very informal chat (don't think of it as an interview). And once all that's done, I'll take everything into consideration before making final selections.

So in no particular order outside of the applicant's last name, here's our UA2020 Dirty Dozen finalists. Who will make the UA cut this year? Be sure to stay tuned to fourwheeler.com/ultimate-adventure to follow updates on the UALRJ as it comes together, and don't forget to watch all the UA2020 event coverage on our website as well as social media with the #UA2020 hashtag for the latest on what the UA gang is up to as the event draws closer!
